Two more weeks of regular season action, then we are off to the playoffs! Where has the time gone? Week 18 has 12 games on the schedule, with several of them having major playoff implications. Who do I have winning these games? Keep reading!

GAME OF THE WEEK PART 1: Milwaukee over Baltimore – The rubber match between these two teams takes place Friday in Baltimore. These two teams are jockeying to host the conference championship in their own arenas, so this game is still crucial, even though both teams have clinched their respective divisions. Milwaukee takes the third game, clinching the tie-breaker and pulling one game ahead of Baltimore.

Florida over Harrisburg – Florida needs this game desperately to keep a playoff berth alive. They find a way to win over Harrisburg, who will be looking to play spoiler. Of course, if Harrisburg did win, I wouldn’t mind it…but I’ll give the edge to the Tropics.

Monterrey over Cedar Rapids – This might be the last game at home for Cedar Rapids in their time in Iowa. With a potential move to Orlando, and their playoff game set to take place in Chicago, Rampage fans need to fill “The Cell” one last time and cheer on their playoff bound team. If Monterrey wins Friday, they will have all but sealed up home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Rio Grande Valley over Turlock – Over the last few weeks, I’ve used my upset alert game on the Barracudas, with no success unfortunately. This week, they are the favorites against Turlock. One of these teams has to win, and I’m pulling for the Barracudas once again!

GAME OF THE WEEK PART 2: Tacoma over Ontario – For Ontario, it’s win and you’re in. For Tacoma, it’s just win to stay alive. Could this go down to next week’s games? Absolutely! Last week the Fury blew out Tacoma 9-4 at home. This match will be much closer than the five goal gap, and Tacoma will emerge victorious setting up one heck of a Week 19 with the final spot in the playoffs on the line. Why the final playoff spot? The Eastern Conference playoff spot will be given on Saturday because…

Baltimore over Florida – This will give the second playoff spot to Syracuse. Baltimore will be coming off of a loss against Milwaukee, and will take its frustrations out on the Tropics. If, by some chance, Florida does win…

Syracuse over Harrisburg – Call me a homer on this one, but Syracuse is one of the hottest teams in the league right now, winning six out of their last seven games, with the 7th game being a one goal loss to Baltimore on the road, in overtime. Harrisburg has found no answer for the Silver Knights, and that trend will continue. I will be watching both of these games simultaneously, in the hopes a playoff berth happens.

Soles over Kansas City – A 23-13 whallop of the El Paso Coyotes makes Soles de Sonora a formidable foe to the Monterrey Flash come playoff time. In regards to Saturday, expect the same results from Hermosillo as the Comets get extinguished.

San Diego over Rio Grande Valley – Sorry Barracudas fans (and players), but San Diego comes calling for you the next night. The Sockers took care of business last weekend, sweeping the Florida Tropics, in two very close games. By the way, a thank you goes out to the San Diego Sockers for helping out us Syracuse fans. I see San Diego winning this game by three goals.

Milwaukee over Syracuse – This game could go either way. Yes, I know, Milwaukee shut out Syracuse last month at home. This was part of the “Three Games in 44 Hours” part of the Knights schedule. But, if Syracuse out-possesses the Wave, they will have a chance to win. Milwaukee also will have a day off in between this game, and their last game in Baltimore. My heart wants to pick the Knights, but my fingers are continuing to type – “Milwaukee wins.”

Monterrey over St. Louis – St. Louis will go down as being the best 3-19 team I have ever seen. They never gave up throughout this season. Coach Hewerton Moreira will turn this team around. This leads into a funny story regarding the coach. On Friday against the Silver Knights, Hewerton was battling with a Knights player for the ball. Once the ball was out of his reach, he reached over the boards, and grabbed a nacho chip from one of the Syracuse fans sitting near me, which drew many laughs from both our section and Hewerton himself. With that being said, I’d love to see the Ambush pull off the upset, but Monterrey are nearly unstoppable.

UPSET ALERT: Kansas City over El Paso – In a closely contested battle, the Comets come back to life against the Coyotes.

So to recap:

Milwaukee > Baltimore
Florida > Harrisburg
Monterrey > Cedar Rapids
Rio Grande Valley > Turlock
Tacoma > Ontario

Baltimore > Florida
Syracuse > Harrisburg
Soles de Sonora > Kansas City
San Diego > Rio Grande Valley

Milwaukee > Syracuse
Monterrey > St. Louis
Kansas City > El Paso

After the Comets-Coyotes game, seven out of the eight playoff berths will be confirmed. MASL Nation, what say you?

Last week, I started slow once again, starting 0-2 with losses coming from Monterrey and Tacoma, but stormed back to finish 9-4.
