The Guatemalan National Minifootball Team and Ontario Fury announced their preliminary rosters for their April 20th matchup at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California.

Guatemala will also play the US National Arena Soccer Team on April 21 in Bakersfield and then will return the favor by hosting the US in the first Panamerican Minifootball Cup June 7-13 in Guatemala City.

Guatemala had a difficult WMF World Cup last October in Tunisia. The team was hit with travel delays and then had to end their pool play with two games on the same day. Guatemala also had a difficult bracket and lost all three games by a combined 21-2, facing perennial powerhouse Romania as well as Kazakhstan and Ivory Coast.

The Fury, who just missed the MASL playoffs after a 10-12 season, will field a younger squad for the Guatemala game, but will have veterans Israel Sesay and Corey Maret in the lineup as well as rising stars Adrien Perez and Juan Carlos “Charlie” Gonzalez. Rejoining the Fury after a two-year injury absence will be Robert Tornel. Seeing his first action with Ontario, USL veteran Lee Nishanian will also be on hand.

Guatemala will feature a couple of familiar faces. Former Revolucion Tijuana and Las Vegas Legends stalwart Luis “Lucho” Suarez will suit up and Patrick Ruiz, who once played for Fury President Bernie Lilavois’s Anaheim Bolts, will also take the field.

The Panamerican Minifootball Cup is a qualifying tournament for the 2019 WMF World Cup. Guatemala will also likely appear at the Arena Soccer World Championship this October in Mexico.

Tickets for the game are on sale now at the Citizens Business Bank Arena box office, online at or by calling the Fury’s offices at 909-457-0252.
