American Association of Soccer 5-6-7 General Manager Bernie Lilavois announced the first nine players for the US National Arena Soccer Team roster as they take on Canada on May 5 and 6 in Muskegon, Michigan and Mississauga, Canada, respectively.
All nine players are expected to play in both games, while additional players will be called up to represent the US in at least one of the games. USNAST Head Coach Phil Salvagio will be back behind the bench.
Seven of the nine players played in the 2017 WMF World Cup, and six of the nine played for the US in their 7-6 come-from-behind win over Guatemala at Rabobank Arena on April 21. Joshio Sandoval, Taylor Bond, and Joey Tavernese rejoin the lineup after not playing in Bakersfield.
Canada, under the guidance of the Canadian Arena Soccer Association, has played two games, falling to Mexico in October, and toppling Brazil in March. Canadian international star Dwayne De Rosario scored the game-winning goal in overtime to beat Brazil, and is expected to be in the lineup again on May 6 at the Hershey Centre.
The game at LC Walker Arena in Muskegon will be the first road game for Canada, and the first international game played at that arena. LC Walker Arena is the home of the Muskegon Risers of M2.
